April Fool

Bonsoir tout le monde!

Today is the 1st of April where people putting up pranks to one another. Well, i used to make up some lame jokes every now and then on this particular day but not so much now. My post today will not be about April fool's day but I know i havent kicked in my creative writing side for a while now.

As working life proceed, i have become a corporate robot, life is no longer fun even though i tried to sacrifice time here and there, but synchronizing my time with others is proven to be a tough thing to do. On a beautiful hot Sunday, which is today, I have devoted my time to watch the Hollywood version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I've read the trilogy, watched the Swedish version  (except for the third installment) and finally the Hollywood version.

I know that it is long overdue for me to watch it and talk about it, but due to its racy content the Malaysian government have decided to banned the movie from showing in our local cinema. In the matter of censorship, it'll be pretty hard to censor the scenes in the movie as it is part of the core content of the book and movie explaining why..yadda yadda yadda. And Malaysians being Malaysians (judgmental us) i reckon that the public can actually accept the movie being shown publicly. Our cognitive system are just not up to par just yet. Yikes!

It'll be too late to say spoiler alert, so I might just write. Kudos to the movie as being spot on as how the book is. Roony Mara carries Lisbeth perfectly even when she disguised herself as the blonde where it is not highlighted that much in the Swedish version. The minor change they made in the character of Hariet Vanger is a set back for the book lover. Hariet should be in Australia and not London and Anita Vanger is alive. The Hollywood version had tweaked that part.

Both the Swedish and Hollywood version did not highlight the relationship between Cecilia Vanger and Mikael Blomkvist, i guess that part just wasnt important to both director. Cinematography obviously nicer in the Hollywood one  and i like the millenium office in the Hollywood version, it is just how i had imagined it to be. Daniel Craig is awesome as Kalle Blomkvist and the part that Lisbeth felt angry/jealous at the end of the movie is a must! that is not portrayed in the Swedish one.

All and all, I was satisfied :)
