Greetings from Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
Haway the lads! There will be a match between Newcastle United and Manchester United this weekend at St. James Park Stadium. For sure there will be chants and noises in this football country.
I noticed that my last post is about me freaking out about visa, and thats all settled for sure, as I'm now here in this English land with the Geordie accent. Located in the North East of the United Kingdom, this place feels like a refrigerator. Though, we had a beautiful week actually, as it was sunny and not that cold.
Everything about Newcastle is great, except that sometimes it rains, then people will start to complaint about it. As for studies.....I have just gone through a week of class here and oh my! I was so intimidated with others that are so great here. Nonetheless, I'm grateful that I'm part of this magnificent, well regarded institute of Newcastle University.
Making the transition from undergrad to postgrad has proven to be tough, most of the people I've met are brilliant and me, a non-first english speaker was surprised with the level of language that they utilise here. All of them sounded so intelligent (and of course i think they are) and it made me feel so small here. I may be the best, outstanding back home, but not here.
Postgrad study is actually something very different, whatever u say counts (this must be backed up with evidence of course) and studying something that is very vague and ambiguous such as culture, language and communication and pairing that with politics is hard, as there is no right or wrong answers. The professors and doctors here always mentioned about being critical in formulating opinions and i'm molding myself to be just that. Believe me it is not something easy to do because this reflect your cognitive skills greatly.
Nevertheless I'm taking this challenge and I will strive to do my best. As a human being there are times that i feel like I want to give up, but hey! if others can do it, so can I. I know that this is part of development and I'm developing myself to be a better and more knowledgeable person.
I will not have much time for this blog here as i have few research papers to write, and with that I have to read a lot and be critical! Till the next time! Adieu
